Hammering the injuries thing in much?!

It's always going to happen, the amount of times I've hurt myself on that bloody hill even wearing full armour!

Yeah sorry about the nasty slasher pic. Most people know it's dangerous to ride Aston Hill without adequate armour but unfortunately there are still a large bunch of Whistler Slopestyle wannabes who think a tee shirt constitutes armour!!!!

The biggest problem really is the associated cost. We have forked out nearly £170.00 on first aid kit alone in the last few months. Add on petrol used to ferry people to the local A&E and the cost of now having to get official first aid training and the problem extends way beyond cuts and grazes. All this lost revenue should be going into the trails.

Ultimately we want people to ride safe and come back. Greater number of regular riders the better the club.

On to more important things - The Bombhole challenge - we might need a couple of extra bodies to help out on the day with timekeeping, squeezing in the cars etc. Anyone able to help (you will still be able to "race") please email me at news@rideastonhill.co.uk

Cheers Guys and Gals

I know what you mean, but that's a difficult one to police.  I havent worn armour there in years and the same goes for a lot of the other "regulars"

The first thing we don't want to do is "police it" which is why we have not resorted to setting strict rules (other than NO Helmet NO ride). Additionally we have tried to create an opportunity for riders to get hold of armour at a reduced rate. Ultimately the decision rests with each rider.

Those like yourself who have not worn armour for three years are more often or not accustomed to the conditions at Aston Hill, and know the track and personal limits. Unfortunately the newbies who turn up and see non armoured riders can be led into thinking its a totally safe environment and its those riders we really need to ensure the safety of.

If you crash its your own fault Wink

I can appreciate it's a difficult situation for you.  You guys are doing a good job at the moment and I can understand that dealing with people injuring themselves must make it more difficult for you.

Keep up the good work guys, I should, hopefully be down for the bombhole challenge with a few others.
