DH Locations Map Hosting???
« on: June 10, 2008, 18:18:37 PM »

I was wondering if SDH could host the DH Locations Map file

There's seems to be quite a few people who want it but can no longer get it, which must be a bit annoying for them.
Its not very big, so won't be using a load free space or bandwidth I wouldn't have thought. I'd imagine the guy who started it wouldn't mind if he were asked.

Is it possible or too risky from a legal point of view?  Embarrassed

Thanks,
Jeff

I can mirror it on an ADSL connection if necessary (static IP).

I don't see why we can't host it. Who's file is it and what is the license on it? Creative Commons?

I think it was "havinalaff" who started it, I think he was updating it with all the locations people were posting.

I have a copy of the file (from 23rd May) if you want it, or you could get it off him, as it may be more recent.

can we not make good use of this http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&lr=lang_en&msa=0&msid=111026421287549683987.000449e95572fa49f25a6&t=h&z=7 it was on pinkbike and looks like it could be quite good as there are a lot of smaller tracks. its very good it has skate parks and tracks given different icons so you can tell the difference. maybe the admin could try work the code into a page on here almost like a pinkbike pic and then comments below ??
