Rheola again?
« on: June 30, 2008, 09:34:04 AM »

Quote from dragon downhill;

Quote
I've just heard the final word from FC regarding the use of Mtn Ash for RD4 this year, It's a NO GO I'm afraid as the postponed felling work (that initially trashed a large section of the track) has just recommenced. So we will have to go somewhere else I'm afraid, Pen-Yr-Heol is not looking likely as half of the track is unavailable to us, (unless we run the top half through steep fields), Abercarn is not likely (I have asked again, no answer yet). No Garway (car parking), no Taff Buggy (not using tractors again), no Wentwood (road not surfaced = transport doesn't work + too many landowners). My initial thoughts are to run Rheola again, but make some changes and tape it differently, might even get it dry!?!?!. Perhaps ressurect Baskerville Hall?Huh Havn't called them yet, but Steve Jones called me from the night club there the other night and suggested it.

So whats going to happen then?

p.s. any body got any podium pics from rheola

Argh, I really wanted to race Mt Ash! Argh!

There's still a TBC for the last round aswell! Where are we gonna end up!

Unless we just push up at one of the venues to eliminate uplift problems? I would be up for that.

It would be good to get a 2nd track (or major variations to the existing track) at Rheola. Baskerville would be rather retro, I seem to recall riding there on a hardtail with uplift on coaches, which was fun! Doesn't Jason need two venues, as the last round is still TBC?

Taff, with no uplift? Its doable, but it would be a slog in the wet. Would be cheaper!

Shame about Mt Ash.  Interesting to see Jason mention Garway, I don't think it's been raced since 2002.  I'd love to go back there, hopefully the car parking situation can be resolved, there were loads of fields around, though I guess if they're all cropped at the moment that would explain it Sad

I read somewhere the last round was to be a downtown but probably just a rumour

Al, you forget that Taff is always a lot longer than you remember, and the track is not shallow.  I wouldn't want to push up it (yes, I may well be lazy).

I would love to go to back to Rheola, and not just because I missed it last weekend.

Rheola would be ace, as I didn't make it the other week. Shame about mountain ash cos apart from the broken bit, I rode it about a month ago and it was ace. Fingers crossed for Abercarn, that's such an ace little track.
