avid dot fluid-formula brakes

righto before i do this i thought id check,

the dot fluid that came in the avid bleed kit, is it safe to use in my formula k18's? i assume dot fluid is dot fluid...

yer so do avids, its just the bottle of fluid that comes with the avid kit says "use with juicy brakes ONLY!"

if not ill just pop to halfords tomorrow

Says DOT4 on the instructions, but ive always been told that running Dot5.1 over the top is absoloutly fine - hmm

edit: Just checked other forums - DOT5.1 is fine to use - best to flush as much DOT4 out as possible, but won't make a huge amount of difference.

DOT4 and DOT5.1 are pretty much always interchangeable, but not DOT5. Stupid naming system really. The AVID stuff will be fine, it says use with juicys only so people dont fill there shimano brakes with it or something like that.

dot 3, 4, and 5.1 are one type of fluid, the common car type.

DONT use dot 5.
