sorry, it doesn't really say what you do, do you go and race and qualify for the big race or can everyone just do the main one, where every on goes down at the same time? I don't want to go and find out i have to qualify to acctually race it, cause i highly doubt i'd qualify  Sad

I bailed. The risk of me injurying myself was too high, I'm out here for 6 weeks more and it wasn't going to be a snow start.  I heard there was a huge number of injuries that day.

Could also double up for advertising massive mince pie based puddings.

the other argument-- is that those who did the race, didn't do the Mega.

They did a mass start race, but its not the MegAvalanche.

I'm not sure where I stand on that, but it was a point I heard many using to justify their decision not to race as soon as it was announced the snow wasn't being used.

At the finish I really wished I'd done it, and I've got immense respect for those that did make the effort.

However had it been raining on the way down, and raining at the finish.  I'd have been the smug one, as everyone stood in the pouring rain waiting for the buses.

For me, it wasn't worth it.  I've done it 6 times now.  Slipping down a muddy track isn't what the mega is about for me, I do that every other weekend.

Me and the Missus completed the Mega, stood around in the rain for hours, not knowing if it was running or not.

That's correct fella's, a girl on a 5" pink bike finished the race come rain or shine!

Had to admit though, thoughts of bailing were going round in our heads like nobodies business But we'd  bought the shirts the night before, and well, you can't wear it if you don't do the event, can you?

We didn't take it too seriously really, just wanted to have finished as well as we could, safely with big grins and this was what we did. Will deffo do it again the both of us. Can certainly see now the point of bikes like the Scott Ransom and others of the ilk, but no, I will not be swapping one for the Foes.

Could not believe it when I saw Colin riding away from the lift, my mate gez also sloped of remember these guy were up there at 6am and got very cold and wet. I was lucky and managed to slope of in to a nice dry room at both the top and bottom of the lifts. Its still the mega when you look back at the records and the same guy even won it, must of been the toughest mega ever, to account for all the deserters. will be back next year and hopfully it will run from the top next time. I got to go and get one of those seat post, respect for those who did it and respect to those that got very wet and cold must of been gutted.

I did some tactical qualifying *COUGH* and managed to make the race....

absolutely awesome....  was glad we did the full mega course from the glacier earlier in the week though, wouldn't have wanted to miss all that snow after going all that way!

I was buzzing so much in the race i wanted to do the whole thing again by the bottom, barely got arm pump anywhere on the way down!

I get the feeling it's going to be addictive!  Grin
