UPDATE!

Rather than normal digging prior to this Racer's Guild, we're going to be planning and flagging a new line down the hill based on rider input. This is a chance for anyone to come and give some input and help design a new line! A few of our regular riders and rogue builders had expressed an interest in a new line, so now is your chance!

The prevailing opinion of these riders has been a wider, race oriented line with no pointless jumps and hopefully longer than the other trails. Technically challenging with lots of variety of corners.

We are hoping to motivate some of the rogue builders to begin building after the planning stage this Sunday. Hopefully the new line will be built by October, when we've got a little surprise for everyone...

Is it a fancy dress race?! LOL

On the trails side, I think the RG events need more sections with multiple lines (like the stumpy rooty bottom sections of Bringe), rather than jumps and such that the locals just ride round on their Orange Orange Patriot.... Just a wide open root/rock garden, or something off a wide rooty drop wood be nice?

Sweet. With such a varied range of skills and bikes on display, muiltiple lines should allow everyone to pick the best line for them and their bike and eek out their best performance on the day

I think a few people share your opinion Miffy!

Wonderland is getting wider in parts, which is giving more line options. And people want the new line that is going in will be a wider, multiple line race track. Sounds great in theory, but harder in practice at a place like Cannock with not a lot of roots and rocks...so we'll see what they come up with on Sunday!

The hard balance is that in a multiple line area you want your fastest line to be the hardest, and the easiest line to be the slowest. It can be hard to produce that.

Definatly...unless you have a steep hill to play with it's rock hard to make that the case without putting out of place features that interupt the flow of the trail in.

I think the last bit of Little Bringewood is good. About 8ft wide off camber, bumpy, rooty and stumps dotted around. I found a pretty nice line through there and it feels far more rewarding then when you pin it.

I believe Wonderland is the same? Richie Boy told us there's a sweet line through it when you know how. Otherwise you get bumped all over the shop!

The top of the trail is wide open. Buckets of line choice up there. The clearing is pretty open too, then it closes in as it heads into the tighter trees. towards the end there are tight sections, and some wider sections. The end of it is all pretty rough though, it's not as easy to keep the pedals through there as it used to be. The very fast line on the last corner is solid to get nailed. I still can't get it consistently. I must've come off on that corner about 4 times yesterday.

i am pretty sure i'll be there on sunday now, although i am coming mainly to scope/build lines which means i may do one or 2 runs but i'm only bringing my hardtail for conveniance.

got to kit that baby up with a front brake and a front high roller (keeping the holy roller on the back) and i'm set.

Bruce and I have worked all day to get the track ready for tomorrow. Two jumps rebuilt and the whole thing's taped.

If tomorrow is anything like today, bring PLENTY of water, suncream and leave the winter tyres at home.
