2008 ORANGE Patriot FR or Big-T??!?!?
« on: July 21, 2008, 20:02:19 PM »

Hi all,
Im running a Kona Scrap for trail blazing and attacking drop offs and jumps. Getting more confident now and would like a full sus rig, tough as a brick shhhh house, that i can do some hard free riding and can pedal away to the next trail beter than my Kona. Looking around at full sus prices, they're all a bit steep, but seeing as im riding most days, I'd like to buy a bike to last for ever (with very little upgrading), so I'm going to go the whole hog and get it all in one.
Now, these 2 Orange ones are getting my attention. Looks to me the Patriot FR looks like the tough all rounder, but how will the Big-T turn out? I gues with a larger wheel base and more travel it will take the knocks better. Frame looks beefyer too. Will there be much difference on the trail?

Cheers, Dave

Id personally go for the Patriot FR over the Big T. It's more versatile and adjustable. The only problem is I think Orange are out of stock until the 09 bikes come out. Mail my shop if you like and I'll check for you.

i'd go for a patriot. Big T's are more heavy duty but less versatile. If you want a Dh bike go 224 otherwise Patriot.

However, Big ts are on sale in this months dirt, fairly hefty reduction too i think.

Thanks for your thoughts! Are patriots good big hitters? The idea of longer travel and wheel base on the Big T is tempting.

Patriots are fine, especially as a first susser! If you want to be able to pedal from trail to trail  aswell as being abel to shred at the trails... patriot.

Do you know which dealers had Big-T's at a reduction?

Try phoning a few dealers and see what they can do, couldn't find any advertised but if you speak and/or e-mail then there are some deals to be had.
