Why then do we sit here going on like this?
But DJ still is heavily based on BMX the tracks, the bikes and even the ridiculously tight jeans. If dirt jumpers were to build completely different jumps so much so that it would be virtually impossible to ride on a BMX then dirt jumping would start to evolve on it's own like the rest of mountain biking is doing.
And until then dirt jumping is just BMX on bigger wheels.

I can't speak for everyone but I have my own image, as do all my mates, tbh I couldn't give two hoots what people thought about who I am or what I rode. So what if its better or just the love child of bmx, I frankly love riding trails and no ammount of an image problem is ever going to make me think otherwise. Why are bmx riders the trend setters, they rip off skate boarders who rip them off in turn. Everyone is ripping everyone else off when push comes to shove, its called evolution. I don't know anyone who rides trails in tight jeans but equally dont see what difference it makes.
With all the flack dirt jumpers face trying to build legal trails, land ownership and insurance you would think the mtb community would show a little support or brotherhood, not try and exclude them on the grounds of it being similar to bmx.
Its not SIMILAR to BMX, its THE SAME as BMX...
Why not call it Dirt Jumping whatever size wheels you have? Then everyone could co-exist in perfect harmony and built trails together.
The reason this doesnt happen is because, imagine if Aaron Chase entered a BMX street comp. His tricks are good and all, but he would get annhilated! The way to keep the fame and glory for the less talented DJ and street riders is to call it a different sport just because the wheels are bigger.
