OK then, here goes, you all know the format, where within a snsible cost range shed weight on the glory FR:

Frame- 2007 Glory FR will get a Ti Spring
Forks-Boxxer Race- anyone ever had a soloair cartridge fitted into these?
Wheels-~~Azonic Outlaw~~ pro2/719 hopefully
Brakes-2007 Codes (203F/183R)
Gearing- X.9 Shifter/Mech
Cassete-11-21 Roadie
Stem-Easton Vice
Bar-Funn Full On
Pedals-Gusset Slim Jim
Cranks- RF Evolve DH
Post/Saddle-Easton Vice-SDG Cromo Railed bel air
Chainguide- MRP SB-3

Current weight= 43.6LB'S

Hey, I'm just about finished building my new glory fr too, so I'd be interested in what you find, I have quite a similar spec to you too, bar my old shivers which need replacing.

The MRP weighs a ton, I have it, steel pressed backplate = heavy.

I'm not sure how much evolves weigh. I have went for saints on mine.

The most noticeable way to shed weight is through the wheels, however I don't know how much the azonics weight to compare to popular wheelbuilds.

Haha!

You'll have to post up weights after changes, as i'm doing the same.

I'm putting on some 721's, ti spring, lighter bars, keeping avid codes because i love them! Maybe changing to saints, but i'm not sure how much lighter than diablous they are.

The rest of my stuff is light anyway, = xo, e13 ring, roadie cassette, cut down seat post ect...

with the outlaw wheelset weighing 2446grams for the set, think ill be switching to a pro2/719 combination, which will be a darn sight underneath 2kg, happy times!

bars, stem, pedals, cranks, ti spring.

Id suggest sunline boxxer mount, v1 bars. Wellgo MG-1 TI pedals, XT cranks.

You could probably shift some with a new seat and seatpost. Selle Italia SLR, and maybe one of those KCNC posts that weigh nothing lol

Of course, you can have as bike as light as you want it if youre willing to spend. Its all about budget. IMO 43 lbs isnt bad anyway.

cant get XT's as its an 83mmm bb, was thinking gravity lights sometime...

ah didnt realise it was 83mm. Yea grav lights would be a good option, Atlas FR maybe?

after the annoyance of evolve DH's (retard preloading, too long axle,self extracting bolt) et, id much rather go with Gravity lights, they are also massiv ely lighter aswel.

Ha ha, we could almost start a Glory weightwatchers club on here, that's at least 4 of us who want to know what works! Cheesy

I'm not even going to attempt looking at changing my wheels until my 2001 shivers are gone Grin

I'm looking at changing shivers for boxxers / 888's.
changing the old wtb wheels for either nuke proof / pro 2 on 721
changing my mrp Sb3 for something lighter, however lg1's don't take kindly to glory's.
I also will look into a lighter road cassette / chain

A few other ideas could be cutting down any unused seatpost, maybe steerer but that could affect the forks saleability.

I'd definately say start with the wheels as they'll give you the most noticeable change in feel. Possibly think about 721s rather than 719s if you weigh more than about 12 stone, and the usual thing applies that get a decent build even if it costs more as you'll save money in the long run. Another thing to consider is what inner tubes your running, if you have thick dh ones and dual ply tyres then try getting standard thickness ones that are the right size (i.e 2.35-2.5). I run standard tubes with dual ply high rollers and i haven't had a puncture in the past 2 years. Even when i was a trials rider i did the same and got one puncture a year.

The general rule my mate uses for weight saving is if things cost more than £1 per gram saved then there not worth it.

yeah im about 10 stone so 719's will be fine for me, will save a huge amlount of weight where it most matters aswel.

£350 about to go on mine in the next few weeks!

Whats wrong with the lg1?
I know the taco needs shaving, but is there a problem with the actual guides?

haha just sawed down the seatpost massively, worked out just from new wheels and cranks i can shave off just under 3 pounds! plus bar stm seapost saddle etc mlittle things ill easily get it sub 40.

If I remember correctly, from the glory / lg1 thread, it was said that both the taco and the backplate needed filing to get it to work, which put me off a bit due to the price of the guide to start with.

New tyres and tubes my suggestion Scawableeeee Big Betty's and a standard tube, that will save you atleast a kilo and the difference will be most noticable.

If you feel brave I'm digging my Racing Ralph, just 535grams for a 2.4 tyre and it has the most amazing grip and stopping power, but just put it in the front with a Big Betty in the rear.
