bromont world cup.
« on: July 30, 2008, 08:34:43 AM »

just thought i'd get this thread rolling with a few initial pics taken by dirtmag.co.uk
http://www.dirtmag.co.uk/news/category/events/bromont-world-cup-dh-track-pictures/dirt-1231735.html

the track is looking awsome and very rocky and IMO pretty similar to maribor in those rocky sections.

Why do they have two World Cups in East Canada? Could they not have one in the West side, which is pretty famous for the MTB scene? Or is that too 'freeride'?  Undecided

Does look good though, but alas, I'll have to miss it - off to Thailand for 3 weeks this weekend. Gutted.  Cheesy

i can almost acurately predict greg to win this race. and here is my reasoning:  Grin

(for starters, ignore the fact that there are 7 WC's this year and only 5 last year)

last year these were Sam Hill's results:
vigo-5th
champery-3rd
mt ste anne-1st
schladming-1st
maribor 1st

now compare to gregs first 4 results so far this year:
maribor-5th
vallnord-3rd
fort bill-1st
mt ste anne-1st

see a similar pattern forming eh?  Wink  Cheesy

I reckon Gee will have it, i raced Bromont before & its pedally for a world cup & whilst Gee has the skills needed to win on the most technical tracks he also is probably the fittest so will excell here!!! Go Gee!!

Practice started at about 11 ish, and the usual suspects were all looking looking fast. Steve Peat had a pretty massive collision with a tree, but he's fine, look out for it on the Santa Cruz podcast from the event.

As far as I know, fourcross practice has been cancelled in an effort to preserve the track.
