you beat me to this topic. broke mine the other week, theres nothing you can really do about ribs. i was told to just take paracetemol, the pain starts to fade away after a while. but will came back twice as bad when moving fast with your upper body (ie diving was a killer for me!)
sorry im no real help.

I did 3 cracked another and my sternum, there's fook all you can do sadly. Just keep the painkillers going and no sudden movements. Remember your arms are connected too, even when you start feeling better keep the momvent in your arm on the broken side as gentle as you can. (sounds obvious but i kept reaching for things without thinking)

Oh and I found racing 4x didin't help Cheesy

Luckily when I did mine my collarbone was so painful that I didn't notice them! Apparently 2 where completely broken and crossed over each other and another fractured. I have fractured more in the past though and its surprisingly painful, breathing hurt!

i found the other day i broke a rib and tore the cartilage in another so now it sticks out big time. i cant really remember when i did it but i just assumed it was really badly bruised. i remember it hurting alot but i guess there was no point going to hospital because theres nothing they could have done for me.

I cracked 2 once, couldn't cough, lie down comfortably or move quickly, certainly not ride for a while coz breathing heavy hurt too. and yep, theres nowt you can do apart from take it easy and wait for em to sort emselves out. Its amazing how easy it is to crack or break a rib, i did mine when my front wheel just washed out, had no time to react and landed on my side but there was a rock in the ground where my ribs landed. Soz to hear it happened to u, i feel ur pain.

well im doing a 4 up team TT next sat ... im boned ...

need to get better and get 2 x 2 hour rides in without busting a gut to even stand a chance of holding onto the groups wheel !

feels more like a perminant stitch at the moment ...

been working away as normal though , only hurts to lift stuff

ribs.... Undecided

cracked the same 3, 3 times  Grin

damn annoying and painfull, and theres nothing you can do about them, having astma makes it sooo much worse.

i had a chest collision with a log at hopton (remember Ben? 'boyko-Benji'  Cheesy ) but they're fine this time.  Wink

p.s. i too got co dyromol after cracking my ribs, thats good s**t  Cheesy (it works brilliantly)

Just take it easy see how you go, you may find you'll be ok without sudden movements or seriously rough terrain, like you say though don't bust a gut.
