I had a thread in "non bike related sales and wants" advertising legitimate copies of windows xp and all of a sudden it's disappeared without so much as an explanation.
To quote your thread...

"Right, We've had a load of OEM copies of Win XP Pro lying around at work for the past 2 years so i've decided its time to sell some of them."

Unless you are a retailer, selling a license with a core component, you can not legally sell OEM licenses. Your thread was deleted because you were trying to conduct an illegal transaction. TBH I expect you know this. I you don't, I expect someone will call you stupid, yes. Wink

If you want people to learn from what they have done / stop them from doing it again then it would help if you tell them what they actually have done to warrant the deletion in the first place.

IMO it would make more sense to write a reason then lock the thread. That way the thread would soon dissapear and i'd have some idea as to where my threads gone.
...
It seems to me as though you all see this as a chore as opposed to a hobby. If you dont enjoy doing it then surely it isnt worth doing.
I agree, but if we had to PM every person who's post was moderated we'd spend all day writing such PMs and then yes, moderating would be a chore. Most times people know pretty well why they get moderated without us needing to tell them. In a few cases people will ask why, we'll usually explain. This works pretty well. Its not ideal, but there are many factors to balance so I doubt anything will ever suit everybody.

Actually that was simply ignorance. Last time i actually read the OEM agreement (I dont tend to make a habit of it Tongue) it specified that you could sell an OEM copy of windows xp with a non-peripheral device. I.E. include a stick of old RAM and you're sorted. and thats how i have been selling them.

This is the point i've been trying to make though. Without that explanation i didnt know why my topic had vanished. Anyhoo all sorted now  Smiley.

Incidently how come you allow people to sell copies of HL2/CSS when it specifies in the EULA that you may not pass your account onto anyone else? That seems to me to be the same sort of illegal activity.

Probably because we have no idea what that is and that its not legal. Feel free to click that "report to moderator" link and let us know Smiley
