I Hate High ISOs!
« on: August 10, 2008, 18:53:16 PM »

Should get a couple of flashes sometime next week, I'm fed up of having to whack it up to 800 or 1600 at f/1.4 to get a reasonable shutter speed. Here's a couple from recent times, opinions?

(Would be better without the stupid leaf blur on the left hand side.)

I think they are quite nice shots.  No noticable noise as a result of the high ISO settings at that size/resolution of image.  Nice vivid colours.

yeah, i like them

Whats a 'reasonable shutter' to you? Out of interest. If its a 400d i don't find 800 too bad. And sometimes use it with two flashes... its not uncommon.

1/350, 1/400? That sort of speed. I tend to find they're blurred when they're lower than that, and I can't for the life of me pan.

Any chance the 3rd is cropped? If it is maybe open up the left hand side of the picture and a little on the right to see the entry?

All great pics though, next time its dark try panning with a lower shutter speed?

Unfortunately it isn't; 50mm means I have to get as far back as I can, which isn't really possible considering how tight most of the stuff is.

I've tried a couple of panning shots but they've all come out rubbish, plus I'm not too fond of them generally.

Your camera looks to handle high iso perfectly fine, nothing wrong with shooting with them.

If you think the noise is too much download noise ninja for photoshop.

Otherwise some decent shots there, keep it up Smiley

A bit of noise is nothing to worry about.. adds atmosphere if used correctly. Your camera seems to handle it pretty well too, nice shots!
