What are people's problems with jumps and drops? They're the same as any other obstacle on a DH track, they seperate the men from the boys! This is the NPS not a regional! Roll Eyes

exactly what i am thinking, stuff that scares you, and if you can't do the scary stuff have a really long (or no chicken route) so that you will progress. giving a bigger advantage to the top guys so that the slower guys can have some motivation and get better. ie 'oh i am going to give that huge double a go later on in practice', that will make up at least 4 seconds.... national tracks should be the hardest tracks in the country.....

fast gnarly and rocky!

Exactly thats what we are looking for,as regards the crap about jumps and spectators i,ll make two points
1.apart from guys like Ian Linton etc you hardly see any spectators up above the bottom quarter of any DH course.
2.Spectators are becoming fewer and fewer the crowd at the last Inners NPS(which is a main DH centre) was very poor.
Spectators are more interested in courses where you can see guys going through the fast techy stuff,The crowd on Starwars (Rheola 2007 Nat Champs) in the pouring rain bears that out.
Jumps are what we do on a weekend when theres no racing,we use our jump bikes.

As I said, jumps are part of a DH course, nothing to do with spectators. I agree with you with the fast techy stuff but jumps have their place as well.

Remember guys, it's not just about the track to be able to hold an NPS. Does Scratchmere have decent sized finish area, pits and camping?

mono mate f**k the public lets do this for the riders.. you know sometimes things shouldnt be mainstream and the races should be for the riders not the few peopl that watch em.. it aint like the nfl

look at bmx they hold small jams witch are more for funn than anything and they are some of the best and arnt all hyped up to be something there not.. a lot of events know are all about sponsers.. dont do it for money/public etc as they dont pay the entry

if you can jump an inch you can jump a foot, if you jump a foot you can jump hundreds its all the f'ing same.. jumps are for bmx bikes.. you dont need 9 inches of suss for a 50ft jump but you do for 50ft of rocks.. jumps on dh tracks along with s**t shore take no skill to ride where as a tech root/rock section or just slipperty mud does.

ps: cant belive this threads still going.. go ride!!

What I meant is there's nothing wrong with and I think there should be jumps in a DH track, along with everything else.

yeah you gotta have jumps in there, proper ones though, i can't believe the crowd(if there is one) would only want to watch riders going through a bit of singletrack, how come everyone was standing at the bottom open sections of cwmcarn if they were interested in singletrack?   or is this the old skooler speaking whos interested in lycraed up riders hitting sections without getting any air, dh should be a bit spectacular, so jumps have goota be in there, that don't mean makin it smooth like bmx, you still got 8" of suss after all, so rough rock sections in there and off camber roots but keep the jumps
