Nikon at the Olympics
« on: August 14, 2008, 10:34:11 AM »

Borrowed this photo from a thread on dpreview.. just check out the number of black lenses compared to the sea of Canon glass we're used to.

Seems Nikon are pulling it back in terms of sport photographers! I dread to think of how much moneys worth is in that enclosure there..

(and we thought the World Champs were bad for the number of photographers!)

funnily enough i just counted them and if i am correct there is approximatly 35 of canon and 35 of nikon(or possibly sigma) Grin

and yes in response to the amount of photographers this only happens every 4 years and it is probably one of the biggest worldwide events, its teaming with photographers aswell as another million in the crowds as you can see by all the flashes when watching the events.. Grin

That's a lot of photographers.

There must be a few hundred thousand worth of kit there, and that's just the swimming let alone the rest of the sports going on. And the athletics hasn't even started yet Cheesy

Imagine goin all the way out there though on an expenses paid trip and then realising you didnt have that last pocketwizard to trigger your remote which would've taken a pic of the underdogs winning the comp.. I guess at that level you dont leave anything to chance. Never mind whats on show in the photo, imagine whats in their kit bags, probably the same again!

Yeh bear in mind he's probably got a 1Ds to take the photo too!

Thing is, get the perfect shot and you could probably pay for half the kit with one photo...

I'm pretty sure the D3x is still in deepest darkest R&D - there's not even been a sniff of a rumour, and you can bet if one of the gear-heads out there saw even a glimpse of it, they'd be on NikonRumours telling the whole planet. D90 is to be launched very soon though, there's some pictures floating around online.

Are you 100% on that... I've read a few rumours about the D3x on one or two sites, I can't remember which ones but I'll try dig them out... I was actually looking for 5d MkII news when I found them.... How I wish canon would hurry up with that!
