Sigma 10mm f/2.8 or Tokina 10-17mm
« on: August 15, 2008, 19:13:14 PM »

looking for a new fisheye. Got a 17-40mm non fish L lens so want something purely wide and fishy. Anyone had any experience with these? Likelihood is I'll be buying from the bay or the USA (which is quite similarly priced now it seems) so there's about £100 in it, with the Sigma slightly dearer.

Now, any samples of riding shots, please post em in here as all thats on flickr is boring stuff that doesn't show what i'd use it for. I'd probably only use the 10mm end so not sure the zoom is worth it when I can get a 2.8 aperture though I doubt I'd stop it to 2.8.

i had a 15mm 2.8 on my old nkon d70. it was a really nice lens and i thought it was wide enough, any closer and people would be landing on you. wish id bought another instead of the sigma 15-30mm. i miss the f2.8 in low light.

Yeah but Nikons have 1.3x crop and my 40d has a 1.6x crop so I wouldn't get any fishy goodness!

Hmmm maybe I'll have to play in the shop lots more...

My Sigma 10-20mm is amazing! got some really nice shots with it and it works as very good fisheye.

Err, the 10-20 isn't a fisheye lens so not sure if you're talking about what I'm after!

I use the Tokina.. I like it a lot because at 10 its very fishy (on a d50) but zoom it into 17mm and most of the fish is gone by then. Solidly build, good results, sharp etc.. reccomended!
