i say Yamaha ftw, never had any problems, and...

only i wouldn't recommend selling you mtb to fund it, 1 it may not find you enough money to buy it, and your mtb costs nothing to keep, no fuel, oil changes no engine rebuilds, no chains/sprockets

you sure mtb's don't have chains or sprockets?  Cheesy

tbh most of the bikes seem about the same as theres so many! and people all seem to rate each one very good so im not to fussed as long as its a good clean bike.

haha, you wont look back man, i started riding mx a few months ago the Dh bike has been out once since, and that's only 'cos i pre booked the race! MX is better in every way. You wont believe how far and high you can jump these things, beats anything you can expirience on a DH bike!
I'd get a 125 to start if i were you it'll teach you to ride properly and make the most of the gears and good lines, 4 strokes mean you don't have to think so much about alot of things due to their awesome torque right off the bottom and smooth power delivery. You'll probably be a better rider if you do some time on a  2 stroke first.
Also if you only got the cash to buy a bike circa 2000 then you don't really wanna be touching 4 strokes that age as for a start only yamaha made one back then, i think, so there isn't much choice and if they let go your looking at a grand also the old ones are pretty big (wide) and heavy.

i still wouldn't touch a '03 thumper, still in their infancy then. unless you know who's it is and the hour son it when it was last rebuilt when the valve were checked, what they were like etc etc. + its good to start on a  2 stroke, you pick things up that you wont even notice on a thumper, makes you want to carry speed more to keep it in the band, for instance.

Embarrassed To be fair though, that is speed equipment gear which is a bit more yellow, and stronger, but the pure Sam Hill GP stuff still comes out!
