Sounds good Rootes.... No idea what to expect, but i'll give it a shot and let ya know. Seen some youtube vids.... Looks awsome fun, will be a nice change from the flatty south east! Some 2min + runs!!

Roo, its easy for me to get a road bike, as i have no idea about them, it wont matter what i buy! Whereas a mtn bike i'll be well fussy, even tho i dont know anything past DH these days really. But, its too easy for me to say what i want, i need the money, and 1st on the list is the 09 Supreme Dh Smiley

Guess this forum malaki really does help, just assumed it was full of kids with too many biased opinions!

Cheers boys.....

If you live near a track (Velodrome) get down there it will teach you to pedal and improve your fitness no end....
Hope it helps..

sometimes the right music on certain dh's actually forces you to go faster (does me anyway). Im considering getting a moto trainer aswell because my speed aint exactly fast either.

ha only just realised your Greg, thought the pic looked like you Cheesy
Riding chainless down cwmcarn is good last time i went i was pretty bored as its quite easy but then 3rd run down i snapped my chain and the rest of the day was way more fun, stops bad habits like hanging on the brakes means you only use them once hard just before the bend instead of dragging for 20ft because your scared.

Sounds good Bill, altho i'll keep me chain on. def like the idea of practicing without pedaling!

Hows the MotoX going? Your mum says your doing alright.... She's the only reason we still go porc! More amusing than the rest of the place!

yeah its pretty sweet, really enjoying it the jumps are f'ing huge, you get like 2-3 seconds air time on most of them! blew up engine on Sunday though so gotta fix that this week £240 worth of damage
Yeah porc is pretty f**ked atm, I am building a new track there in the next couple of weeks, its Mike's design Undecided but it'll be something new. meant to be 30 seconds long and flat out (easy) the whole way with a couple of big jumps. apparently thats the old course from the Kent DH Champs, back in the day which Steve Peat won, and he was quoted saying the track was "30 seconds and totally mental" so Mike wants to rebuild it for some big revival next year.

what i sometimes use is when im out on my xc rides(which is quite a fair bit) i listen to good riding music (UNKLE, etc etc or pretty much any biking DVD soundtrack) then when im riding DH runs i dont listen to my music but i sing the tunes i listen to in my head (or out loud when i ride past ppl just to get dodgy looks) this helps me loosen up quite abit as i tend to find myself tightening up which then causes me to ride s**t. it has made me faster when i do this but each to their own i guess!

Matty,

I agree.... I pretty much sing (usually hum as i never remember the words). I tell that to mates too, def loosens you up! Bit of Unkle eh? Good choice, proper zone in to riding on that stuff!

"30 seconds and mental"...... Mike is pretty mental eh!? Bill, the place has improved so much recently, but its still limiting for us. Seriously, i just chat to ya mum all day! I had Mike hunt me down in his s**t box motor last week cos i wouldn't give money to his wife!

I had a look at velodromes and stuff, nothing near by, but i found a BMX track not too far away, could be fun!? Ended up looking at race BMX's on ebay!

what we do at our local is get as many of us there and do timed runs on one track over the whole day,

Then you have times to beat push against...

We have like a timer board on bebo (sad i know but shh) and it allows you to see what you need to do for certain times

Like runs that absolutely stonking quick turn out to be Slower because lack of fluidity..

I have used last winter this year as training lots.... 2 Body attack classes a week, dh sometimes 3 times a week and xc as much as poss

on our timed Days I have gone almost 10 seconds quicker in a year on a 1 minute course....
