Cold Sore
« on: August 24, 2008, 10:13:39 AM »

I have a cold sore. It's not attractive, it hurts to eat, and I'm having a party at the end of the week!
Can anyone recommend any creams or whatever that I can go and pick up from the pharmacy? I would just waltz on in there and pick one up but I'm sure there will be a shed load of different ones, and I only want the best for my beautiful face eh?  Wink

Help appreciated big time!

zovirax i think its spelt. Expensive tube the size of a pebble but will do the trick of getting rid of it quicker than otherwise. It will not make it disappear immediately. Just be thankful you're not allergic to getting sunburnt on your face resulting in being covered by coldsores atleast ooo 5 times a year!

Well that's good to hear!  Must be that old dose of herpes that's sat dormant in your body since you last messed around with slappers!

Seriously, I hear stress is a big cause.

Haha.

Yea I read about it on the net a bit, but I haven't been stressed at all of late. Apparently it's common to have contact with a family member who had/has a coldsore, then it can pop up years later.
Ah well it seems to be on the mend now.

And that Zovirax.. 6 quid for that tube!? Bloody outrageous..!

dentist prescribed me something called vectavir, dunno if you can buy it off the shelf, but it's a god send, coldsore disappears within 48 hours. Otherwise, zovirax works alright. I sympathise with you though, coldsores are the work of the devil, fuggin hate them! fuggin herpes!

I'm quite prone to them, apparently its a lack of potassium in your diet aswell, also i think its just being prone to them, i know some people that have never had one in there whole life, and some people get them every other month or so.

Personally, i cant find anything that works very well for me when i get them, so i just let them run there course, although i have a habit of picking at them  Undecided
