Just watched that over on NSMB. Looks amazing, the fact that there will be such a range of possibilities with lenses and just the general package of shhoting video on a dSLR is awesome, and with the d300 sensor it sure to pack a punch. God im just astonished by that camera, i want one. NOW!

Funny thing is ive been looking at getting a new camera around thos sort of price range Wink win win.

Thats tempting me back to nikon and I've only jsut went canon!!!

i think the video is a bit gimmicky, but i cant say it wouldnt get used, cos it could be a fun thing to have on the camera.

Wonder what the retail price will be? £750ish for the body maybe?

I bet the video eats memory like no tomorrow too.

whats gimmicky? its HD720p or whatever, thats a hell of a feature to have, it saves you having to buy another video camera and you can use whatever lens you feel like. Smiley seems mint to me

is that a total of 5 mins only? or you can only recore 5 mins at a time? if its 5 min at a time, shooting biking for example would be plenty no? just shooting snips to re-edit together afterwards.

Wither way its still mint  Cheesy

Yeah okay thats fair enough, but you'd need a massive card to get any decent length of time, as the quality will take up a lot of space.

It's an SLR at the end of the day, it's their to take pictures, not video, if people want that that's why we have bridge camera's.

tbf not many photographers are gonna care about having video, would be more desireable when it filters down to entry level stuff if i was buying a d90 id prefer that money to have gone into developing something else or just to have the body cheaper

well you have the sensor from a d300, which is amazing in its own right, in a cheaper body with the video function included.

I just think its great because ive been looking fo upgrade my D50 (had a canon 40D in mind) but i also wanted a new video camera. Now that the D90's out it means i dont have to get new lenses and i can have the video cam inc. Pretty good save of money imo.

In reply to the comment about storage space, i doubt itll be taking that much for a 5 min max recording? Im guessing itll use CF cards, so you could treat yourself to 2x 32gb cards if you were really that fussed and be sorted Wink one for shots one for vids

Had a look on the Nikon website, takes SD cards and accepts SDHC

Looks like a great camera though, anyone know when its out and what sort of price it's going to be? Would be a perfect replacement for my D50 too if i can strap together the cash.

WRong!

http://www.jessops.com/Store/s75338/0/Digital-SLRs/Nikon/D90-%2b-18-105mm-VR-Lens-Kit/details.aspx?&IsSearch=y&pageindex=1&CatId=481&ManIds=1462,&SortBy=SkuOfferingPriceASC&IsInStockOnly=False&comp=y

And it'll get cheaper...

It's kinda persuading me to go back to nikon with it having a D300 sensor.... be very handy for my gig photography! But saying that... 3200 on my 40d isn't really all that bad... AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Well video on dslr.. .hmm - its cool if your on a reccee maybe and your scouting the area but to be honest - dof adaptor on a hv30 still blows that out the water with any lense so its not too exciting.
