CumbriaBikePark's (Scratchmere Scar)
« on: August 29, 2008, 11:27:35 AM »

Just wondering if anyone on here has been to Scratchmere Scar (CumrbiaBikeParks) in Penrith, Cumbria, i know there are some threads on other forum's but have never seen one on here.

Up-lifts are on every weekend for only £15 and you can expect at least 15 runs. Just turn up on the day before 12, from 10 until 5 with a lunch break at 1pm.

There are 3 DH tracks, Dirt Jumps in progress, 4X, Freeride track, Slopestyle and Pump tracks planned.

Check out www.cumbriabikeparks.co.uk for more info.

There also having a Dirt Jam there in a month or two, winner gets a Spank Smoke frame, Just email Clive for details.

Also a Winter race series planned, more info on that soon.

Sounds pretty good.

I had a look on the website but could only see pictures of the downhill track, has the freeride park been constructed yet?

Whos funding it?

Is it free or do you have to pay?

Thanks

The Freeride track will be built during the winter, but the dirt jumps are being made as we speak, I'm not sure about riding without up-lifts, but you can catch the freeride track on the up-lift when its built, I remember Clive sayin its £5 to ride without up-lifts, just to keep the funds up, cant realy complain..

£5 sounds good, especially since you could spend the best part of the day there. I may combine it with a trip to Whinlatter next time I go.

Im guessing the dirtjumps are mtb orientated rather than bmx orientated?

Yep MTB all the way.

There's also a kinda of raised platform going all the way down the less steep part of the hill, not sure what you'd call it, Innerleithan has things like it, they have table tops all the way down, with berms and stuff.. its like the Ae line

Rode there a little while ago when the place was only about 6-8 weeks old and it was def worth the trip if your in the area, I was on my Sunday at the time and recovering from a broken collar bone so it seemed mega steep!! To be honest when I was there I reckon it was more of a hardtail track but it all might be different now, go check it out!!
