Sounds similar to mine, both pieces of bone with very far apart and overlapping. Dont want to be bringer of bad news but that took 4 months before i could ride and play sport properly. Mine had dislocated as well at the time and popped itself back into place as i was waiting my trip to the hospital, that wasnt a good feeling.

yeah just went to hospital the bones stuck on the other bit of bone proberbly needs plating proberbly no more rugby ever and no riding for a long time :'(
has anyone on here had a plate put on a bone or is a doctor and can tell me is it painfull?, what happens?
cheers paul
Nah bud, dw the actual plate won't hurt.
You will have to do scr massage which means you just massage the scar so the tissue doesn't stick to the plate or the tendons around it, Make sure you do it or movement can be limited by it.
Also there's only one time I've found the plate hurts it's self, When you go swimming in the sea or a cold swimming pool the plate can get cold and then make the bone ache quite a bit. I just usually get a warm flannel or something and place it where the plate is and it warms it up quick eough.

f**k THAT doesn't it hurt.
I've been rocking the plated look for nearly 3 years and am on my second collarbone plate now. It depends on how skinny you are.
I can't carry rucksacks on either shoulder now and am generally a f**k up. This time I've ended up with a screw slipping leaving me with a tender bump under the surface. I'm super skinny so it affects me more than others. If you've got a bit of muscle/fat on you it'll cause you fewer issues.
That said, I'm certainly glad I went for the operations both times instead of leaving it to heal on its own. The first time meant 6/8 months off the bike, the second one meant 5/6 months off with a minor scare of losing all movement in my arm post op, but it came back so it's all cool.
Main advice, do the physio, and listen to the doctors, don't get cocky and think you can do it on your own. That's how you end up with problems.

Ok. I've got 3 plates and 15 pins in my arm. Only 1 of the plates is near the surface, the other two are in the fleshier part of my arm where all the arteries are.
