the ones that are meant to be ridden are fine, the ones that are not supposed to be ridden are not. Nothing a bit of suspension cant handle...

The trails look in a bit of a poor state. Is anyone actually keeping them in shape?

they dont actually ride as bad as they look in places, ive found them quite smooth in places.
They could do with a bit of neatening up and some TLC which we are hoping to do soon, not major changes, just making it all look a bit nicer and professional. Its not definite as it is a bit of a rough situation as to whether we are allowed to do anything up there.
All i can say is that we dont intend to build new jumps or anything, just sort out the damage that comes with them being ridden.

It's not really a rough situation at all to be honest. Technically nobody should be riding there as insurance details were never finalised with the land owners. Kind of lucky that they don't seem to care too much.

I'm confused, how do you know so much about the situation?

And the confusion as to whether we can dig isnt to do with landowners, they dont seem to care.
It is to do with the BMXers who used to dig there, Brett, Mike and Ross were 3 of them.
I know Brett and he said he doesnt really care anymore as he is moving to Australia soon. He said we can fix them up if we want but dont ruin it or build in the wrong places.

Please explain yourself if you feel so high oh mighty, the fact is i'm good friends with Mike and Brett and get on well with Ross, and they have never had a problem with us there to the extent i have not had to worry about insurance, its just the minority who don't have a clue how to ride the jumps who show up and think they own the place that cause the problem.

Ok i think you've taken what i said the wrong way. I wasn't saying its just mountain bikers that can't ride there. The situation as i knew it last was that there was a lump sum to pay to land owners to cover them and those that paid towards that would be allowed to ride as long as the had their own personal insurance with british cycling or something. Pretty much nobody did this so as i said before, technically nobody is allowed to ride there bar ross i think.

No, you have to have paid the land owners too. Well thats how it was meant to work anyway. It jsut never really got sorted. And they are secret to an extent.

we havent said were they are yet!  Wink

And after talking to Brett he said something about British Cycling Insurance is what we need to race there.
How much? Where? Why? etc, can anyone explain what it is and why i need it, apart from the obvious insuring side.

Tim, its for racing in National races like NPS and covers you if you get hurt in a race or when riding. You need silver IIRC to get insured and its a fair few dollar though look on the BC website and it'll tell you.

Also, I would change the topic name if they're supposed to be secret more from the point of view of the landowners looking on here and seeing that you've been riding there without paying them.
