Oldschool Stuff
« on: September 02, 2008, 10:29:40 AM »

Have just acquired an old Cortina Europa frame ( I think )
Complete with massive bolt through rear end.
Original Hope brake that looks un-used, kind of like a C2 but has the reservoir mounted parallel with the lever blade.. also has the old style 5 bolt rear rotor.. anybody have any ideas?
Also, brand spanking new Hope Sport rear hub built on a mavic rim..

Frame unfortunately has crack along head tube, what do you guys reckon is the best thing to do with this beast?

Plus, I'll get images later on if anyone is interested.

don't ride that thing hang it up on the wall. a cracked headtube = dead frame. don't even be tempted to ride it.

Unfortunately not that lovely Pete!

its the hardtail version, in a very spangly gold.. Your right though, the frame's clearly past it.. nice bit of history I suppose.

I'm quite sure that's the lever, however my caliper is raw and not black like that one.. the rotor shows no sign of use and the brake still has a great feel to it.

For a year 2000 frame it was certainly ahead of its time, adjustable wheelbase and 12mm axle, the machining on that alone is amazing.
