puking
« on: September 03, 2008, 13:59:14 PM »

i have just had the afternoon off college as my 'Games' sport is biking.

the weather was crappy so i came home  Wink

however it was decent weather at home so went DH'ing. well i have some small private DH trails by my house and have been riding them all afternoon.

now these are small, like 15-20 seconds each (however very fast and pedally)

i was riding these and pushing up for about 2 hours and started to get knackard. then i found myself unvolentarily (sp) throwing up after a run.

is this just my bodies way of saying, 'jeez man, take a break and eat something'?

or is there something wrong with me?

does this happen to anyone else after long, hard bursts of riding?

Some people throw up after doing intense physical activity like long distance running etc.... It could be this, but seeing as your only doing 20 second runs at a time it sounds doubtful.

Do you feel knackered after a run?

Were you hot or drinking enough? Its happened to me before so i usually drink around 5-6 litres on a sweaty uplift day.

no, not knackard after each run, but i am lik erunning back to the top and doing continuous runs  Undecided

wasn't so hot, but i suppose i wasn't drinking that much just coming in for a quick swing of water.

could lack of water intake be the cause then?

normally i'm very sensible and when out on big DH rides will back a 3l water bladder.

Haven't done it riding but have puked a few times training hard in the gym etc. Basically it's when you push yourself that bit too far, you could well have been dehydrated or hungry too. Nothing to worry about, just don't make it a habit.

The only time i've been sick from over-exertion was when we did the multi-stage fitness test, or the 'Bleep' test at school.
Got to like stage 12 and felt really dizzy, like i was about to pass out, then went outside + threw up  Tongue

The nurse said it was probably de-hydration, mixed with just pushing myself too hard, so that might be whats happened in your case Smiley

See your doctor, he'll check you out.
I'm being sick twice a day when i eat or exercise, and its due to an infection i didn't know about...

If you go to a "proper" gym (warehouse building with lots of weights and not much else)...you will see a sick bucket next to the squat rack.

It's a normal response to too much anaerobic work.
