Pentax k1000 help
« on: September 03, 2008, 15:45:12 PM »

Hey guys got hold my dads old pentax k1000. Just a few questions.

1. Does any lens cap fit it as long as its the right size. e.g. 58mm i think its this anyway to check? As this camera turns on with the lens cap removed therefore running down the battery - and i have no lens cap and need a replacement.
2. Also has anyone used one of these? Good starter camera before getting a DSLR?
3. Also i have 2 lenses - 1 Smc pentax-m 1:2 50mm and a Mitakon WIDE MC 1:2.8 f=28mm. From the lenses i have anyone know what others will fit and work with this camera? looking for one with a zoom as none of these do.

Thanks guys Smiley

1. Im a bit confused by this one, what do you mean it turns on when the lens cap is removed? You should be able to set it to blank shutter speed and it should be off.

2. Its a manual SLR film camera, definitely a good camera to play with before buying a DSLR. It will teach you how to use manual, allowing you to get the most out of your camera.

3. From a very quick google and not much reading it appears to be Pentax K mount. If you google this you may find other compatible lenses on the internet.

1. The camera has a light meter for getting the right lighting.I read that the battery wears down when the cover is off as the light is changing the little dial/meter inside. Not too fussed on this matter as i just remove the cap.

2. Got the pictures developed that i took some pretty decent quality shots. Some were poor due to messing around with the setting (infact most) so will read up on this.

3. And thanks again will do Smiley

Thanks Cheesy
