Whats with the trend to over engineer frames this year? As a engineering exercise, it's phenomenal, and the major companies will undoubtedly get some helpful results in testing, but is it really necessary?

Some fantastic kit however, I'm really looking forward to see some of it on the shelves Wink

Shimano YUMEYA is interesting me.
what? some parts that are going to be way overpriced to stick on your xtr stuff to save like 50g?
Look beyond the products and think about what they are doing and why, thats the interesting thing.

i suppose that it is opening up opportunities to be able to customise parts with lighter aftermarket add-ons. but imo its a teeny bit pointless. I mean i get where youre coming from i just wanted to state my opinion.

Im guessing the same company that produces the rotor as it looks like it could be ceramic maybe?
If so maybe its one of the names on the rotor

EDIT: appears to be a company called ceradure, they make parts for motorcycles, nothing about bicycle parts on their site :S

It's not just something new this year, companies do it every year. Theres been quite a few 'concept' frames using the same sort of idea of the Meerkat.

I've been waiting to see the new VP Free for years... literally. Just pretty glad I found an '06 frame in the end. As so many riders have been fitting them with 8.5x2.5 shocks to drop the BB an inch and slacken the HA a tad, then maybe it'll be designed around that.
The Sinister Poison. That's what I'm all excited over. Another no show, but hopefully Frank The Weldder gets the patent granted so production can start.

Yeah, SC are taking their bloody time to release info about it! the new uzzi looks sexy though, wonder what the vp free will be like in comparison.
Would be nice to see some of the 09 ironhorse bikes in the flesh rather than renders found on mtbr
