Im relatively new to sdh, and has always wondered...

I know it's a cheeky question, but Im intrigued as to how this system works!  Roll Eyes

Well, it must take quite a few people a lot of time to keep this up and running, monitor it, and give feedback etc.

It amazes me just how much the admin must work to keep this going

what about the crc advert? do you get money for that? other adverts may be good as no one ever looks at them any way and you could get an income to cover the costs of the site. Considering it is such a good site i would have thought advertisers would pay a bit to get a place on here, and i'm sure no one would mind a few more adverts to help the running of the site.

i think thats a great idea, if i was a bike company i'd pay to be on here (maybe not CRC as they get slagged to f**k on here at times) but there is definately a large number of riders to benefit from adverts.

I don't think the forum is costless....Surely you need to pay for the web address and servers etc. I don't know anything about websites but there must be costs. I'm not saying that it's the mods being paid because they are not paid.

from my (admitidly limited) knowledge of the inner workings of the site, the banner adds just about pay the server costs and i believe rob and tom have had to pay extra to keep the site open from there own pocket now and again.

as for the mods they do it for the love. (of pwning noobs.)
