Snowboard helmets?
« on: September 07, 2008, 15:12:14 PM »

Anyone on here use them instead of a conventional lid? Been looking at some of the giro range, the omen and what not, look like quite cool helmets.

Would they be up to the same standards as mtb helmets?

I use a lidl snowsports helmet... adjustable fit, excellent coverage, it has removable earmuffs, so is good for year round riding. Highly recommended.

Personally I would stick with the correct helmet for the correct sport, though I am sure that my SB helmet would suffice for riding I am unsure whether they are subjected to the same tests, and if not which is tested to 'lower' protection levels.

SB helmets tend to have less vents (for obvious reasons) so will be a bit warmer, the ear pads tend to be removable, plus SB helments tend to be more expensive (especially the p*ss pot style) as they have more 'features'.

Indeed. Id rather condem a £25 tsg to a few years riding rather than wrecking a s.b helmet
