i'd get boxxer teams,
deemax wheelset (if your going all out then get deemax rims built onto pro 2 hubs/CK hubs)
Saint 09 crankset with the CK bottom bracket
MRP G2
Sunline direct mount stem
Reverse fli xxl bars if you like really wide, sunline v1 bars if you want them a little less wide.
easton flatboy pedals.
Sram x.o or a shimano road mceh with xt shifter.
Avid code brakes with goodridge hoses
SDG i beam/i fly saddle combo.
CK headset.
plus all the little extras like the rrp mud guard, helitape, Ti bolts etc.
Maxxis minions F+R, high rollers F+R, Wet screams F+R, and swampthings F+R as you will no doubt need them and this way they'll be cheaper.

If your going down the single crown route, Totems, or maybe even some high end travis forks, 66s have a bad rep with the new stuff now..

I dont agree i have 66rcx on my socom and they have never put a step wrong. i have seen many sets of totoems go including a new set at Cwmcarn this weekend. But in all honesty i wish i had the extra cash for the 40's or boxxers airs.

I went with SLX cranks, Saint brakes, Sunline bars, Hope hubs, mavic ust rims, xt gears. I also went for paint as the works finish will nto last and will be hard to clean.

nice specs, how can i get the demax rims? i like the idea of the pro2 or CK hubs but are they better than the full demax wheels? Are totems really that bad? i was liking the idea of single crowns but if i got for tripple clamps id like them as light as possible so boxxer airs would be best. Colour wise its either works finish or black but ive read the paint is rubbish on intense bikes so maybe works is best.

Socom,
forks: Fox 40's (look way nicer than boxxers in my opinion, not that much heavier!  Wink)
wheels: 5.1 on ck or hope pro 2's
brakes: maybe wait for Saint 09's or Avid elixir(09) or code.
steering: have a matching bar and stem, looks nicer than mixing, (again in my opinion) Truvativ holzfella, Funn, Sunline all look very nice.
shifting: In my opion, Stay with shimano, road rear mech and a saint(09) shifter.
Seat: obviously its personal preference, stay light, i have a roady seat on carbon seat post. Stoopidly light, But i do sit down and its taking quite a few knocks in crashes especially this week  Undecided  Tongue

Have fun building it mate! Im happy just typing all this stuff  Tongue
Let us know how it gets on!  Wink

yeah but then you need to get a direct mount top crown for the 40s as the sunline direct mount stem is the one to get.

I have just purchased a socom frame, its being used as a bit of a demo bike for the parts we sell and for the development of replacement rear dropouts to alter the head angle and bb height for these frames and the uzzi. When its finished will be fully polished with all black and gold bits.

Many parts are personal preference and fork choice may affect the stem/bars/headset you go for too so keep that in mind, anyway heres what ours is going together with:

Boxxer WC's
Point One Racing direct mount stem (We have the direct mount and standard stems for sale now - V-light)
KCNC Scandium bars (710mm)
XT chainset.
LG1 Chainn device - NOTE - new socoms are isg05 now.
09 Saint Shifter with Dura-ace derailleur and Gold KCNC wheels.
Ti Cassette.
Hope Pro 2's on ex721's
Formula oro's with Alligator Gold ti-nitride rotors.
Gold Alligator i-links cables.
Fox DHX with Ti spring.
Selle italia SLR saddle and KCNC post.
Most bolts will be Ti where appropriate

Im astounded how light the socom frame is without the shock - however you build it take advantage of its low weight and build it with this in mind, im hoping ours will hover around the 35lbs mark - as soon as its built ill start another thread with pictures and follow it up with dropout developments for those interested.

Good luck with the build.

^^^^please post that up in spangly new kit when you have finished building it. it sounds an incredible build. You could even wait for the 09 lg1 so that you get the gold bolts with it.

Was staying with doddy on holiday this year and he swore by the totems on his socom. Said he had run most types of forks and the totems were his favourite over Fox 40's, boxxers, anything. Was also running the cane creek  Wink

nice specs boys!

am thinking bare metal totems with works finish and yellow deemax wheels. Will this look good you reckon are the deemax wheels good? either that or boxxer airs. Probably going for thomson stuff and then saint for gearing and mrp carbon device, although i do like the idea of black and gold throughout... mmm anyone got any pix of a socom in works finish with deemaxes?

Socom's break and slowly fall apart!

Me and a buddy both owned one and neither of ours lasted a season!

There is huge amounts of flex in the back end! Very noticable in g out turns!

Eats bearings every 12 weeks around BB..

Ride nice but not the best frames if you rag em!
