quick yes/no bearing question
« on: October 01, 2008, 17:22:01 PM »

Right, the bearing on my x.9 has ceased up and obviously i'm after a replacement

it's labeled "6801-V NBK"

but i can't find a 6801-V, what i need to know is if any other 6801 bearing, whether it's "6801-2RS, 6801-2Z etc." will fit

and if they will then which type would you recommend, if not then what bearing will?

thanks!

From what I understand, the end bit is how the bearing is sealed.

For example 6801-2RS is the 6801 size with 2 rubber shields.

From what I see, they should be the same size, its just the bearing shields may be differant (you can get metal shields for instance)

yea as above really, you need a 6801- 2rs , the last digits are just seal type. go to you local bearing supplier (look in your phone book), should be no more than a couple of quid really.

as mentioned, 6801 is the bearing code which is a specific number for each bearing size. the letters after, i.e 2RS mean 2 rubber shields, one either side of the bearing. I'm not sure what the V stands for though.

NSK is the make of the bearing, NSK happen to be pretty good too.

please dont get metal sealed bearings, these are designed to be immersed in oil/lubricant.

any 6801 bearing will fit in the application, but you need/desire the correct sealing for it to work effectivly. its safe to assume that a 6801-2RS will work.

ye thats what i worked out when i was looking for new bearings, the numbers make up the dimentions, so as long as the dimentions are right, youe shouldn't have a problem

ebay have a massive selection of bearings

the V is the same standard as the 2RS. That is the one that you will need SKF is also another bearing company that would be able to supply that product, you could always try phoning them to confirm.

That would probably be your best bet mate.
