British Cycling Points on UKBP Races
« on: October 07, 2008, 21:14:53 PM »

Hi guys,

Just wondering if there was any consideration for awarding BC points on the 2009 race series at all?

Seeing as we don't have a southern series for DH that does this, UKBP would be the ultimate place and it could potentially really help with developing the park in the UK race scene!

I have no idea how this works but it's just something I though about so thought I'd ask!  Smiley

Looks like we'll be having points for some of our races in the future (Ben said it at the last race, so hold him to it!) , we were going to do them this year but never quite sorted it.

Now we've got our summer (ha! bloody rain.. Angry) season out the way we'll be having a rethink and start working on some bigger and better events for you guys...

yeah it is a prime oppertunity to make ukbp grow as a whole and to get riders from further afeild to see what there missing out on.

that and with the dragon series being no more i think your be laughing!!!

its a must guys for nxt year at all rounds of the summer dh series id say and if you want some sick tracks built im sure between your guys and some help from me and the boys wree have some shorter but rahter intresting tracks.

i was thinking of 2 different race tracks and race them both on the same day and combine the overall time to see who wins... although there is nothing wrong with 2min tracks if anything makes it harder to win as you have to ride perfect and make no mistakes.

were wait to see.

The combined time race is another one we thought about, there's only so much dh you can get out of a 130m drop so would be a good occasional format for the venue. This was the first year we've run our own timing, we've learnt alot and confidence is growing  Wink

Bad news about the Dragons! seriously, we're only thankful we have an FC rep who is understanding and someone that we can work with. He's still a glutton for bureaucracy, but that is the FC for ya....

we will have points for next years races and also for this years winter races
We have already started looking at dates and have pretty much sorted out a calendar already ( in principal)

we will not run races that clash with the megavalanche or bank holidays
we might have some clashes with other races but we want to avoid them if possible

I have a suspicion that the dragons might re-surface but hopefully if we get our dates sorted, other organsiers will do their best to avoid clashes

we will also be having more 4x races next year
