DH runs
« on: October 08, 2008, 09:17:00 AM »

Hello

Hopefully I'm heading up to Aston Hill this weekend with my sister, who hasn't been riding for very long.

Only ever been there once before and that was a long time ago so I was wondering if someone could give me some info on what it is like there now.

In terms of the downhill runs which would be best for someone relatively new to dh (I don't want to scare my sis off coming riding with me again!  Smiley

Thanks

The tracks have been worked on a fair bit lately, so they're all running quite nicely.

Start on the red run and take it from there, maybe session some of the top sections first to get the blood flowing and get your sister in to it without the long push up straight away.

Hey,
Be very careful, Brilliant news your sis is coming down,
I have a bit of experience getting girls into riding. one one thing (as you have stated) is to not scare them off too early.
If she has not been out for a while, i would strongly advise not taking her to the hill just yet, more than likely it will be wet which is well.... sketchy for the best of riders, even the XC course is tough..

Why dont you take her round wendover, Ashridge woods?

I dont know how proficient your sis is but if you want to get her into riding, the last thing she needs is a slimey downhill course!

Hey, thanks for the replies  Smiley

I haven't exactly persuaded her that she wants to come yet, she may decide against it - a lot depends on the weather!

She's been riding fairly recently, mainly Chicksands and then Afan last week so she might come over and do the red run...but I will have to leave it up to her.

I definitely want to get over soon though, the last (and only) time I went was about 2 years ago and I left with a broken collarbone  Roll Eyes

Nick - not sure what the plan for the weekend is yet (depends on which day I get the van)but if I do head over on Sunday it would be cool to meet up, thanks

Weather is due to be great this weekend!

If your sister wants a riding friend of the same gender, look for me by the gate!  Cheesy
I'll be there both Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine.
