there is a vast difference between hydrodynamic bushing gap (typically what Fox and Rockshox forks have to allow for oil flow once the fork is working) and poor quality control or bad bushing tolerances

this has been a common complaint and Marzocchi made excuses about it...rather than admitting the problem and offering riders a real world solution

later 2008 production forks seemed to have this "complaint" not so evident which suggests the poor QC or tolerance issue was taken care of....hmmm

There is indeed, what should be maybe 200-300 microns to allow a thin film of oil to a couple of mm on the 08 forks I have seen.

Well, if it's normal. My forks shouldnt be leaking as much as they do under travel. In heavy rain, as Seb_C can bare witness, you can literally see the oil running down the back of the fork legs, i've ruined 2 sets of brake pads due to contamination now. Only thing that's keeping me from sending them off, is i can't afford it ( i'de use TF to atleast get the seals changed, and oil refilled - ide rather pay then try to beg Windwave to atleast look at them and have them say it's "Normal" ) and although they reckon their turnaround is 3/5 days. I can't really afford the time without a bike. ( it's my only mode of transport - sending it off means using the bus/but no money means no bus )

if i could service them i would. As i'm sure their lovely forks, but at the moment... i'm swaying towards the idea of purchasing some Totems.

Its not normal, its s**t QC and poor tolerances that is mostly masked by heavy use and hence easily excused by Windwave et al.  Major play when stationary and oil leaking from seals is not normal.

Luckily their the simple 66RCV's. So it simply is having oil refilled, seals and bushings changed. And maybe if i complain enough some new pads for my brakes.

I might be having a small fortune coming my way soon. So i'm hoping maybe i can purchase some new forks. Keep the 66's mind, have them serviced in the future.

Right then bought my forks months ago, they were very stiff at first, then they became smoother and smoother and I really liked them.  Didn't notice any faults.  Then my mate picked up my bike in my garage and was playing with it as usual.  He said, have you seen the play in these forks?  Suddenly, I felt that cold feeling running down my spine and then realised it was just a drip from the garage roof Roll Eyes.  Then I got straight on the phone to windwave.  They said the same as they say to everyone.  So i put it to them, this fork has a 3 year warranty, if i permanently damage these forks due to bad wear in the bushes - will you repair or replace the forks?  The answer - as I suspected was yes.  I also said, what if I hurt myself.  they said that the fork was not going to fail catastrophically if at all.  I haven't got any leaks, they feel excellent in use, so i've just decided to watch them over the next 2 years.  At least theres the warranty???!!!

Wish mine were like that, they feel like there is a little man inside with a hammer hitting the side as hard as he can every time I go over a bump lol. They're with CRC at the moment anyway so am just hoping that I will get refunded!
