No idea, but it's NORMALLY the last weekend in July.  This year it was 2 weeks earlier to avoid clashing with Le Tour.

I'd drop the organisers an email anyway, as this year they did move the dates around alittle so best be sure if booking so early.

The internet is a powerful tool, however the majority of users here seem to be merely tools  Smiley

Same for my AS im guessing!

There is also the Mountain Of Hell race at Les Deux Alpes which always goes down well too. May be worth looking into that. Its similar to the Mega so it'd more than likely make up for missin the mega Smiley

You enter online at the above website, keep checking back for info, I think they open in January.  The website is a bit French and poorly translated at times, if you get stuck trying to enter (as some I know people have) just post up here and someone will know.

It costs circa 70 euros as I recall, that gets you entry to the mega and the sprint as well as a 1 week Huez lift pass.  The sprint is essentially a downhill race the weds before down the course featured in Earthed 3.  Its probably the best course you will ever race down (assuming that is you don’t race world cups)

With regard to requirements, excluding the obvious safety stuff  you will either need a full BC racing licence to Silver or higher to enter.  Failing that a note from your doctor confirming you are fit and healthy will suffice.  Either of the above are required when you sign on at Huez and I am assuming here they haven’t changed the rules from last year.

There are variants of the above which are cheaper, for example no sprint race or limited lift pass.  However, for the price it’s at least 100% better value than any other race you are likely to do here in the UK.

ok well i dont have the BC liecence thing is that easy to get and will it cost alot?

also what would the Doctors note need to say?

so its 70 euros all in?

i just got to think about how much the staying out there and food and that will set me back but then its my 19th just after so i may get it as an early present

roughly how much would it cost for a week out there?? im going to talk to a few people staying out there

i am based in bucks and wont mind if anyone wants to do a road trip and ill add in for fuel

also if i was to stay in morzine how far is it from there ? or do i need to look at completely different place?

cheers

Doctors note just need to say you are in  a general good physical state, there are very loose guidleines on the site when you enter, some docs charge £15-20, some do it for free. Mine was literally a couple of sentences.

As for cost, you can make it as cheap as you like, theres loads of accommodation, some don't book till they're there and apparently get it a good deal cheaper. We pre booked for 5 nights, and i think i paid about £100, or just under. Euro tunnel cost £150 return, fuel depends on your car, tolls roughly 60 euros each way i think, maybe slightly less.

I guess you could fly to lyon if you weren't to drive, no idea about tranfers though, but im sure you'd find one easy enough.

We stayed in chatel prior to going to alp d'huez, and drove through morzine on route. Admittedly our route planner screwed up and we had to re route because of some diversions, but it took us about 4 hrs. Its not actually much more than 100-150 miles, but lots of twisty mountain roads, so takes a fair old bit of time. Im sure someone will tell me they did it in an hour and a half or something, but hey, we didn't.

Thats my two penneth anyway.
