Rate my diet?
« on: October 13, 2008, 21:10:25 PM »

been wondering if im eating too much recently  Roll Eyes Thought id post it up here and see what im doing wrong! Looking at getting abit fitterm but pretty fit already.
8:00: 3x Weetabix and raisins, 2 slices of toast
11:00 Sandwhich or wrap, normaly tuna/chicken
1:00Cooked meal, normaly meat and rice depending on whats available
3:00 3x maltloaf x1 Cofee
6:00 Cooked meal
9:00 2x orange, some salami sauasge and bread.
Bout 5 litres of water too.
Thats monday-Friday without fail  Roll Eyes. Just fancied some pointers on that, no additional vitamins etc.
Er excercise wise its 1hour walk every day with the dog, 1 hour footbal a week and riding all day sunday. Downhill though so no 30 mile epics!
Any tips would be great. Just to add, I think im pretty fit and have reasonable endurance but would love to improve on that!.

"cooked meal" is not very telling.

I did notice you never mentioned any vegetables.

So you just eat all day and walk the dog for abit?  Wink

sounds alright. depends what you want to do. build up muscle or just be fitter.

muscle mass = more protein, more excercise.

fitness = lighter meals more often, more excercise.

My diet:

8am: wake up
1pm: works lunch break so if I've forgotten my sandwiches then i have a bag o' crisps
7pm: ah, back home. make a brew.
8pm: raid the cupboards, only a tin of soup or noodles so I have that
9pm: go for a ride/run
12am: sleep

weekend: ride/extracirrucular activities.

repeat for 3 years.

it's a crap diet.

i'm taking up martial arts again so my routine will change dramatically next month.

'snot bad, although I am no nutritionist, you obviously think about your diet.

Ideally though I think you couple eat more fruit 'n veg and you might be eating too much protein, although it's hard to tell without portion sizes etc.  Reducing processed and refined foods would be ideal too e.g. wholemeal not white bread, brown rice not white, lose the salami etc.

Depends what you want really, you say you want to be fitter but do you mean less fat too?

Fruit and veg wise im sorted. Get more than my 5 a day.
Er Im not fat and have little fat on me, so more fitter than less fat if that helps.

whats your day job ? your eating alot if your in an office job and your only exercise is an hours walking each day ....

Your eating just a little less than what i eat (in terms of ammount, not content...i eat alot more fruit and veg than listed)  when im training hard doing 50miles plus every day .......which im not at the moment so im hardly eating anything  (comparibly)

Raise your fruit and veg intake , 5 a day is a minimum not a target.....

cut the 9 pm snack , if hungry have an "empty" sandwich ... 1 slice of bread with  something like low fat cheese spread or something on .....

If you were training hard id give different advice ......
