Hair Shoot
« on: October 13, 2008, 21:37:52 PM »

The follow on from the "Dead" topic (The excuse for testing the lights), here are a few from the Saks hair shoot Smiley

The colours/brightness may be a bit off on most monitors.. I'm working to print calibration so everything over here is daaaark.

Quite impressed considering I had to do it in the Salon with everyone running around me blasting hairspray. Next time i'm holding firm and doing it in a proper studio for sure!! Canon 5D w/24-70 2.8L and two Bowens 500W heads w/various attachments.

I'm not sure if this'll mean too much considering I'm not seeing these with the correct monitor calibs, but they look as though the lighting emphasis isn't really on the hair.

On the first, the highlights on her hair kinda get lost into the background; the second looks as though it could do with some more light on the tops and bottoms of of her 'doo' (although the detail is probably better with the right exposure) and I think the third's key light actually looks pretty cool as it is on her hair although her nose and above her mouth looks blown. Maybe a kicker or two to bring the sides of her head out of shadow a little? Again, without seeing what it truly looks like it's hard to say, but they do look good.

Did you have much of a brief to work from or were you given a pretty free hand to do what you wanted? Props for being able to produce something of decent quality with all that fuss going on around you - not sure I'd be able to!
