Last night at the Dover District council offices there was a club development forum on working towards clubmark status. Clubmark is run by Sport England, this is their desricption of clubmark:
"Developed by Sport england, Clubmark is a set of national standards for National Governing Bodies of Sport to adopt and their affiliated clubs to meet."

"The scheme accredits and recognises clubs that are committed to providing a safe, effective and child-friendly environment for children & young people."

For more information on Clubmark visit their site, http://www.sportengland.org/clubmark

Myself, hodge, and another dubrider attended this meeting with a view to see good practices with regards to running a sports club. We plan to put some of their practices into our club from the start. This means when we are set up we will already be putting many modern codes of practice into the club.

Just a wee update for y'all, peace

oooooh! going down the beaurocractic route of go ride. Wink Smiley Thats how it all starts out the window common sense and what you do as good practice without being told, enter Mr. Beaurocrat. (Britass Empire)
Make sure you stay in control of your own destiny otherwise you will end up like all the other cycling clubs offering more of the same.
Sorry just had to say it. Wink

if you think you're gonna let those prats control us you got another thing coming! We don't actually plan to go for clubmark, but it was good just to go along and see how its done 'properly'. We can take little bits that we like, or that are just plain common sense to put into practice for our club. Got loads of document templates and food so i'm not complaining  Wink

right.. i sent an email to bbc the other day asking for some publicity for our sport on local tv/website. I offered my services to write race reports or articles. this is their reply:

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your email. We are always keen to feature new sports on the BBC Kent website. Perhaps you would be interested in writing an article for us?

We also have a section on the website called Video Nation: http://www.bbc.co.uk/kent/videonation/index.shtml

These are films about people's passions, rather than being documentaries.

If you would also like to make a short film for us on how you're finding it setting up your club, how people are taking to the sport and why you got interested in it in the first,  place let me know and we'll take it from there. We supply the camera and chat to you about how it works, and what to shoot and then do the editing here at the BBC. You would have complete editorial control over the film and where and when it was shown. (They are often featured on BBC Radio Kent, and may also get and airing on BBC South East Today).

If you'd be interested in either, then please just let me know.

this is gonna be sooooooo cool! finally, would be good to get our sport recognised on national telly.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
