The other day i was walking out to my lbs to pick up my bike and my mate was riding along with me so he gave me a backy, somehow his pedal (which were brand new Xpedo MX4's) managed to rip my shin down to the bone, looks nice now its infected :'(. I wasn't wearing armour cus walking in SPD shoes is bad enough without Dainese on!!!

I was riding down some silly stairs in altrincham with a dodgy FSA powerpro. Well it came off and everything sorta seemed to spin really quickly, at which point my Azonic knee/shins were hit hard enough to put a huge ass crack right across the knee.

Now anyone who's had those knee/shin affairs knows how hard it is to crack 'em!

As far as actual scars, i've got a couple. Good couple on my knee which i did riding along mossy tarmac to college! Not riding down the Alps! Madness.

I was doing a bit of trials some years back and got a DX pedal in my shin...  the pedal snapped and one of the pins is still in my shin.  Couldnt get it out so its still there...  I was told it might work its way out but its been a while now and nothing yet lol

ive got some nasty scars on my shins where a set of core pedals got hungry and took a few bites of my shins.

i say scars they are more like holes under which you can feel where the pins gauged into the bone,
i was running only a rear brake on the summit trail in nant yr arian (i wrote the front lever off in a big stack on the first single track decent, i should have called it quits after that)
couldnt stop at the bottom of a large fire road decent and i had a choice of either hitting a steel gate or trying to speed hop a 15' gap, needless to say which option i went for, and the fact that i didnt make it!! the boys enjoyed though

i dont even go as far as the shop these days without leg armour on, i did my shins in over 2 years ago the scars still weep and itch like mad sometimes, its cool when your bored though cos you can play hunt the bone fragments, there never in the same place for long

I've made a mess of mine already...

Have a 'trainline' up the back of my leg, which I did months ago when I slipped forward off a pedal on a stupid little drop & raked me up the back of the calf. It took about 3/4 weeks to heal & looks like its there for good now!

well i'vr just got back in from work(army). a quick one hour play on the HT was the dish of the day(this was at lunch time).
its now 5pm and an hour ago i had a lovely 1 1/2 hole  and a 1/4 inch hole stiched up in my shin .when it was open you could see the shim bone in al its glory!!!!!!!!!i'll send a picture of the results when my camera has charged a bit. got one onf the medics from camp to take a picture on her phone and i'll get that off her tommorw.  hahahahahahahaha

the thing id even if i was wearing shinny's, this would have still happened as this was on the lowest piont of the leg and hay, look at how many people have told their stories of shin gaurds shattering/cracking.it happens. they don't protect you from everything and not forever either!!!!!

also when i was transfering from the XC side to DH and freeride. i managed to stack the XC bike and insert the main big ring on the 3 ring crank into my carf.... it was in so deep i could actually pick the bikes rear end up without using my hands!!! mind you , it wasn't clever as it kaned like hell and it only stayed in my leg for that trick as i then got cramp and it locked the ring firmly in place......

had two scars, then ripped the skin between them to make one big scar  Grin. shin pads are the answer!
