tough one this ... they are pretty different bikes - both great but as usual you want to ride both first really .... I guess you need to find out if you like linkages or single pivots? Either way you cant go far wrong with either !

well, i had the demo and i love spesh linkage setup 4 bar rocks!
but the commencal looks awsome and the designer for them used to work for sunn who arguably made the best bikes ever soo the commencal should ride awsome too...
but im not sold on single pivot but it has a linkage activated setup which means it should ride nice...

its gonna be built single ring with sherman 6" forks...
the sx trail 06 is also more money at

orange 6.6 Grin or santa cruz heckler are your best options, sorry to ruin your fun but these 2 frames are such brilliant single pivot bikes its deffinatly worth taking a look. take a look on orangebikes.com as it has a list of shop with demos of the 6.6

Definatly go for the SX, rode one at the lookout and really felt indestructible for such a manageable bike. This was an 05 one though not an 06, I'm guessing the 06 ones are a little bigger with the extra travel

Thought you would go for the Sx Dave. Get some pics up when you have built it and give me a review of how it rides  Smiley
