What tool do I need?
« on: December 19, 2005, 19:09:29 PM »

Having recently changed from Truvativ bottom brackets to a raceface one I've found that my current crank puller has too thin a spindle on it. Does anybody know where I can find a raceface crank puller, or what they are called?

sorry i think you are a bit mixed up there.

have you replaced your bb or your cranks Huh and if its your bb you will need a raceface bb tool out of crc.

if you are on about the crank arms, cranks pullers are more or less universal so there shouldent be a problem there.

what he means is the hole in thee bb is to big for his crank puller so the spindaly bit just slides into his bb not pulling of his cranks

instead of buying a new one get a 5p peice and slot that in or a washer then push agains that  Wink

Had a bit of a revelation. one 5p coin on its own is the right diameter but not strong enough and therefore bends under the force and becomes lodged inside the bb axle. but three or four sellotaped together are strong enough.
cost me 50p in total to get my bb out, daylight robbery! cheers everyone.

nah, i've tried a 5p in the past and each time its bent. I have a proper tool now, but in the past I resorted to a bolt who's head was just the right size to fit inside the crank and just overlap the bb spindle.

Or a small bolt that the threaded end fits easily inside the bb axel, and the head covers the end of the axel. Works fine for me.
