« on: December 20, 2005, 20:56:45 PM »

found 2 sets that i like and need some thoughts and comments about each before i choose.

option 1: Time Z Control Freeride

option 2: Crank Brothers Mallet C

there both the same price so its all down to which one you think is better.

cheers in advance.

waza has tried both so he'll have a good idea on the two. And i think he prefers the mallets.

Never had the Z controls but ran a pair of times on my XC bike and they both use the same system, and ran Mallet's no my DH bike, originally the Time's were better but felt rubbish after a winters hard use whereas the Mallets are still going strong Smiley

I had times on my XC bike and Malletts on my DH bike.
To be honest liked the Times more but they have no adjustable float, so you have to either like the factory setting or lump it! I  find the float to be perfect.

Malletts' are excellent but found that I had to cut away a lot of my shimano DX shoe to get the cleat and pedal body nicely fitted.

If I had the choice again, i'd go with the Times.

I have never used the times properly but i have the mallets and they are brilliant!
I had a go on my mates bike with times on and i had the mallet cleats on and believe it or not they felt pretty good! But they were totaly solid no float atall, which i quite like. But out of the two, go for mallets!! Smiley

been running the times for over a year now and cant find anything wrong with them have worked perfectly and clear mud very well, so my vote is with the times.
if your up the hill at any time you can try them out. gary had a set ooff the crank brother but sold them as he found he had problems clipping out on the left hand pedal.
