Mt ash jump « on: December 26, 2005, 20:58:02 PM »
Been looking at one of the jumps at mt ash for a while (its scares me). Its the one not on the course, but just after the 3 bus stops. Its almost a road gap over the course. Well i hope you know what i mean
Anyway was hoping to get a pic of someone doing the jump, so if you could post a pic that would be great.

Was riding there today, the first one looks huge, I have watched people do it, but there's a second one following it that leaps the fireroad that the track crosses, thats much bigger, and if you mess it up it's going to hurt.

I'm pretty gutted as having dug both of those jumps I havn't done either yet!! (Wuss I know) Went up the other day with the intention of doing them and the 2nd is now unridable due to the forest work they've done, NOOOOOOOO!! If you go to freecaster.com there's a shot of Phil doing the first and second on there on the unscene trailer. Also if you follow that track up to the top of the hill it is an awesome course, steeper than Anne Caro in Chatel....

i rode that track at the dragon race there in the summer, the top bit is soooooo steep!! i done both of jumps, had a go at the 2nd one without looking at it, nearly died soooo bad i only just made it over the huge ruts by centermeters!
Best thing to do is give it a peddal and then rool for the last bit so you get time to think about what your doing.

Yeh I'm going up there with a D-saw as soon as I get back to Cardiff, bloody annoying that tree!!!! If anyone's up there soon there's 2 tracks that join up just by that tree, one coming in from the other side, that one is even steeper again but I'm not sure if there's any fallen tree's as it hasn't been ridden for a while.

The drop's all right if you take it at a steady pace - the trouble would come if it were in for the race, because if it's taken at race pace (i.e. without slowing down for it) then less-than-elite riders would wind up landing on the tree stumps and in all sorts of trouble... which is why it is taped out for racing, before anyone asks.

Bob i think youve got the wrong jump there. There talking about one off the track, the jump crosses the track.
I was up there yesterday and the landing for the second drop is completly covered in branches and stuff now. the forestry is thinning out a lot of the forest
