The carl zeiss is unbeatable,

Had a play with one of the Canons the other day? That was nice, easy to use (touch screen!) but I have never used any of the newer sony ones.

i think i bought that one, but i'm not sure looks about the same, very easy to use and has loads of function, i haven't checked them all out yet but am getting there, ooohh touch screen too, qaulity is superb, the ziess lens is crystal.....

probably a good idea to get a memory stick for it...but you can use tapes aswell

A Canon, I don't know if it's the same one as you posted, but it was a Canon and had a touchscreen, so probably not then.

tricky choice cause they are more or less the same machine results speaking.but my choice will go for the sony, the lense is the one, the body well balanced and strong and don t forget these people design things seriously, it's a sony...but for the downhill, jump world i use only sony, high altitude, dust, cold or humidity never fail my footages...canon are very good tool too the colours are superbe, the control ok, the brand is serious...but the tape compartment  fail me so many time that it put me off for ever. the sony will make you film so serious staff, just get a small tripod now. and a long battery and welcome to extreme sport diary

I'm pretty sure my mates got the sony, he seems really pleased with it, and when i've used it it seems great.  The only bad point he has highlighted is that the veiwfinder (is it?), th bit you look through with one eye, isn't hinged, its fixed.  No matter really you can just use the lcd screen.
