hutchinson tyres
« on: January 29, 2006, 12:09:54 PM »

my mate gave me some hutchinson jumbo's ages ago and they're the best tyres i've ever used. unfortunatley i left them in whistler and i'm stuck with my knackered old irc's. you cant get jumbo's anymore but has anyone tried any of the others? im trying to get some new tyres to go to wales with and i'm stuck for ideas. no doubt it'll be muddy as hell but i've never been before so i'm not sure what to expect.

I've got an Octopus that I've run a couple of times, it's their High Roller / Comp16 alike.  Grip wise it's almost as good as the Comp 16 I normally run, but the sidewall isn't as beefy - it's the same as the one on the Jumbo though, so if you get on with that, you should be all right.

Dont bother with Hutchinson Bulldogs, not very good at all.

Octopus, as Bob said, are just a lightweight comp 16/highroller derivative.

There really isnt much point in running Hutchinson unless you like XC, there are simply much better tyres out there for DH riding.
