as a veteran dh mtb filmmaker i can say:

it depends what feel you want for your film!

If you want to go for the more Earthed style you want 80s punk and maybe the odd 80s pop etc. these go really well with racing and dh trails.

if its more freeridey id suggest instrumental hip hop or maybe hard rock music.

if your going for street, drum n bass works as well as hip hop etc.

And most importantly: dont use songs from any previous mtb films, i would suggest looking at the band names from dvds and researching other titles from them if you like them. just make sure the track fits with the pace of riding, you can always tell if a song is too fast or slow for the riding and then it just looks pants! anything will go as long as you edit the video to suit the music!

Hope that helped and good luck with the vid! Wink

cheers dude that really helped nice one i would love to see some of your work

something from pendulum?
reccuring by bonobo?
'bablyon's burning' by the ruts?
'neat neat neat' by the damned?
'new rose' by the damned?
'the great escape' by we are scientists?
'my heart your hands' by from first to last?
drum & bass usually goes down well, something like sattelite song by comix, aphex twin - 'vordhosbn' or 'girl boy song'.

just a few ideas.

fast, thrashy music - thrice, avenged sevenfold, (hed)pe.
none of which are remotley thrashy.
use some kreator, overkill, exodus, or early anthrax if you want thrash.
if youre going to drop genres into it, do it properly, and dont please dont besmurch the name f thrash metal again.

for a video though, id be more inclined to use stuff like orange goblin, motorhead, monster magnet or alabama thunderpussy if you want metal.
if you dont want metal, then theres nothing like a good old bit of 70s-80s punk. i suggest new york dolls, poison idea and the stranglers. quite a bit of variation, but all good in thier own right.

You want some hip-hop to break it up a bit, a mixture of music will appeal to a wider audience...

tracks by;

Aim
Fingathing
Prefuse 73
Sixtoo
Soul Position
Ugly Duckling

would all go down a treat..
