lake jump
« on: February 20, 2006, 23:36:14 PM »

hey ok im looking for some advice on a good location for a lake jump, and basically whats needed is:
 - big enough lake
 - maybe a jetty
 - longish run up or a downslope to the kicker
 - quite deserted

if anybody can put forward some suggestions for a location, it will be greatly appreciated, as the time it would take driving round trying to find one will be kind of awkward.

We used to jump into Coniston lake using a ramp. There was a jetty and a good run up but it gets quite busy during summer.

Coniston and especially Windermere are usually packed at summer with families and wot not. If you go later on in the evening, 7 - 8ish, its usually not too bad. Apart from those b'tard flies that drink your blood

i'm guessing you live right up near the lakes then, isn't there ennerdale water? a lot lot quieter than the bigger lakes and probably has all the right stuff (jetty, run up). Failing that, isn't conniston pass next a lake as well?

top tip dude is to recce the landing area before you start throwing the bike and techno shapes as there may be debrie under the surface.you know the type of stuff i mean-tesco's trolleys, vauxhall nova's,a few dead homeless people and a fewbroken bottles and the like.......................

as above just a warning but you should always wear a pair of old trainers as theres stil going to be glass and that under the surface

otherwise great idea maybe an old gravel pit??? like in the mbuks like
