I Mountain Bike and Mountain Unicycle!

chains...
« on: March 01, 2006, 20:36:17 PM »

hi,

I've gone through a few chains in my time.. snapped a few etc.

Snapped my connex wipperman the other day again and decided it's time to get a new one. Just wondering whats the strongest cheapish chain do people think? I could spend a tenner or 35 quid...just depends if its worth the money. Any sugestions?

Thanks,
Aaron

i've always gone for the pc69 then at work we had some 99s in on offer! it lasted 3 times as long! it was amazing! just kept going! spending the money is worth it if you can, get the best you can afford is my view!

And SRAM chains are hte best on the market easily

Another vote for the PC69 here too. Stock up on a couple of spare links, you'll never need a chain breaker again. Unless you need to shorten the length of course.

Another vote for the SRAM '9' series. They've changed all the model numbers fairly recently, so you'll be looking for a PC-9## rather than a PC-#9.

Just goes to show either;
A) How long they last, or...
B) How slack I am at maintenance!

snapped a sram the other day but they do hold up for a long time and they seem to be the ones to stick with, you never get dodgy links in them when you buy them either
