NO way are they related!

Profile designs are a tiwanese made company! make mainly road aero bars! but now are going into mtb bits.

Profile (Racing) are a company that handmakes all of there bits. They have only just started mtb bit as are a BMX race company.

Personally i think the BSH is a cheap looking and is a massive chunck of alu! and looks horrible and shows where it was made! Tiawan!

I ment is like the attention to detail on a handmade product! look at thompsons compared to say Azonic stems! so much care and attention taken that they are a peace of buitey(sp.) but the Azonic, mass produced! doesn't look amazing

i was aiming that at rage more tbo but yeah i see where your going but that is all in the design really, there are some amazing and brilliant parts that come from taiwan and i think its silly when people say silly things about taiwan made products becuase if it was'nt for taiwan the mountain bike industry would be alot smaller and our bikes would cost even more.

Agreed.  They have the technology over there to make stuff way cheaper, and to a better standard alot of the time.  Uk based companies can usually only CNC aloy, or make frames from steel.  Come to think of it, are there any UK manufacturers making frames and stuff from aloy???

basically good taiwan eeeeze stuff is good, but there is some shockin stuff also!

Mr Big Racing
I would presume Pace are as well.

And metallurgy lesson: All frames are made of alloy, if they weren't they would either be soft as shite or brittle as hell, alloying is a process where other materials are allowed to "contaminate" the metal being worked (such as chrome and monolium for 4130 steel & zinc and stuff for aluminium). Sorry but its a frequently bandied word thats often used in the wrong context. I'll shut up now...

Have you ever handled Profile Carbon Strike aero bars? They're a work of art.

Your comment about Tiawanese manufacture is outdated and plain wrong. Why do you think so many companies use Tiawanese manufacturers.

Is that a Demo 8 you're riding? Would you say say it shows where it was made?

Taiwanese production has come along leaps and bounds since about 8 years ago when I first remember getting the mass produced stuff, simply because they churn out so much they gradually iron out all the quality issues via continuous tweaking.

I think the only false economy is delivery really with them having to build up a huge batch before shipping which then takes 3 weeks- 3 months to get round here. The only real saving is they pay with bowls of rice to the workers that make them.

The company I work for has just had an order from a customer who previously had their product made in the far east. The products were made shipped to the UK where the whiskey was bottled into them, and then shipped back to the far east for sale. But they had all sorts of quality issues which took months to rectify because of the shipping time. We are just down the raod so any problems we sort immediately (if there are any  Wink).

This turned out to be so wasteful of time that they save so much time and money by getting the prodcut, which although more pricey from a UK manufacturer saves all round in hassle, money and time simply because we make it and get it shipped out there where its needed. Frankly I think moving everything to that part of the world ONLY because of cheap labour rates is such a bad idea youve got to take everything into account, all hail British engineering. And if more companies had leaner operations and faster customer order satisfaction there would be no need to make slashing cost cutting measures like move abroad...  Roll Eyes

Sorry getting a little off topic there.

Yes mate sounds like you've been done. Where did you get it?
