video camera experts help me
« on: April 01, 2006, 21:54:05 PM »

hiya i have a quite basic camera, its a samsung SCD 103 and theres a problem with the lense i think.

when i put it in the filming mode the screen comes up completely blank, just black, but the funny thing is is that when i first noticed this porblem i fully charged it and it seemed to be ok again.

Then when i took it on holiday it stopped working again, so in the place we were staying i gave it another charge and it seemed to fine again for the whole holiday and didn't need to charge it again during the holiday.

After the holiday it won't work again, i've tryed charing it again but it just wont work, maybe the lense is just very dirty? or should draining the battery help, then charging it up again?

thanks, myles

It sounds broken, in my educated opinion. Take it back to wherever you got it, or get on the phone to Samsung.

Errr, no, is the simple answer. Video cameras are so complicated and brand specific, very few places can service them. You will have to send it to the manufacturer. Canon are the only brand that can be fixed by independants, and even they are often too complex.

there is a very small possibility it may be a problem with the tape mechanism. My sony played up in that area, mind you it did come up with an error message saying check tape...
Best bet is to get it looked at, be warned of repair prices (i think i got a quote from Sony saying it would set me back about
